Haeryu,' a young man who can't live according to his will due to his sick mother, one day accidentally falls into the water from a bridge. In a precarious situation that makes him think of death, Haeryu is rescued by Gon, a mysterious man who appears with a school of fish. Haeryu sees the 'gills' beneath Gon's ears. Going beyond her own, individual experience—which ranges from mind-blowing to claustrophobic—she argues that the powers that be regard the voices of marginalized people (who often perform work that causes hearing damage) as noise, and combat it as such.
